This is one of the rarest of all the Sears Honor Bilt publications. If you are a collector, you know that very few of these still exist. This 75 page Leather Bound Instruction Manual came with each Sears house kit, and most were probably destroyed during the construction process.
The Sears Modern Homes program prided itself on the fact that by using their step-by-step instruction method and pre-cut materials, even the most inept of carpenters could build their own home.
A few weeks after the customer selected a home and placed the order, two railway boxcars containing everything from doorknobs and carved staircases to varnish and roof shingles – would arrive at the nearest train depot. This instruction manual was the owners guide for assembling their specific model of home.
The "Index" listed all items in alphabetical order rather than numerical order. This was meant to be used as a checklist for items pertaining to each individual home. Subsequent chapters describe each consecutive construction step, from unpacking, to interior painting.
This CD includes Seventy-five pages of American History.
All these pages are scanned into .pdf files for viewing and/or printing from Windows or Macintosh systems.
Unlike expensive "Reprints", this .PDF data file contains high resolution
color images which faithfully depict the pages of the Original.
